The City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) celebrated its seven year anniversary in January 2019. Last year IFED’s investigations led to numerous fraudsters being jailed, including a woman who exploited the Grenfell Tower fire, Manchester Arena bombing and London Bridge terror attack to make fraudulent claims and a North London gang who defrauded insurers out of £1m.

The Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department continues to evolve to counter the ever-changing threat posed by insurance fraudsters, and has achieved some terrific results since it began. These figures are a testament to all of the hard work over the past seven years by IFED, in partnership with law enforcement and the insurance industry, which has contributed to bringing serious consequences to those who choose to engage in insurance fraud.
