People can be both our greatest cyber security risk and our greatest asset. Cyber Griffin is an initiative that helps businesses and individuals in the Square Mile protect themselves from cyber crime.
Founded by the City of London Police in 2017, Cyber Griffin is an independent, vendor agnostic service seeking to improve the cyber security of the Square Mile. With direct access to police and action fraud databases our services are continually updated to reflect the most relevant, and prevalent threats to your business. Whether you are a Small Medium Enterprise or large corporation we have a range of services tailored to assist you.
All our services are free and designed to be accessible to those with very little knowledge of cyber crime threats, all the way up to individuals who hold IT security and risk management roles.
Our team brings over 50 years of policing experience gained in crisis management, critical incident response, education, major crime and cyber-crime investigation. All of our team hold relevant cyber security accreditation including CISM, SEC+, ISO and MSc qualifications and each member has their own area of expertise. We prioritise staff development and are continually developing new skills and gaining relevant industry knowledge.
Why is Cyber Griffin important to me and my business?
The costs of cyber-crime are significant. According to National Fraud Intelligence Bureau records, City of London businesses lost over £45 million from March 2015 to March 2016 due to online crime.
In 2011, the Government estimated cybercrime undertaken for financial gain cost the UK economy £27 billion every year, although the real impact is likely to be much greater.
Although the effect on citizens and Government is considerable, most of the impact is borne by business.
